Air Testing — Mould & Bacteria

Airborne bacterial and fungal counts by settle-plate, air-sampler and compressed-air methods.

About Air – Mould & Bacteria

Airborne micro-organisms are the hidden contamination route in food plants, pharmaceutical areas, hospitals and cleanrooms, and they must be monitored to validate that air-handling and hygiene controls work. CVR Labs quantifies airborne bacterial and fungal load using settle-plate (passive) and active air-sampling methods, plus compressed-air microbiology for product-contact air.

Monitoring is set up to suit the environment — routine environmental monitoring for a food line, classified-area validation for a cleanroom, or an investigation of a contamination event — and counts are interpreted against the applicable cleanliness expectation. The result tells a quality team whether the air in a controlled space is within limits or drifting.

What we analyse under Air – Mould & Bacteria

The parameter groups below are drawn from this service's own accredited scope; the full searchable list follows.

Air carries contamination

Bacteria and mould travel on air currents into open product and onto surfaces; air monitoring closes a route that surface swabs alone miss.

Cleanrooms need validation

Classified areas must demonstrate airborne bioburden within limits — settle plates and active sampling provide that evidence.

Compressed air contacts product

Compressed air used on or near product must be microbiologically clean; dedicated testing verifies it.

FAQ

Air – Mould & Bacteria — frequently asked questions

Is Air – Mould & Bacteria NABL-accredited at CVR Labs?
Yes. Air – Mould & Bacteria is performed under CVR Labs' NABL ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation (Cert. NABLT0626TN18226) at our Chennai laboratory, with traceable, audit-ready reports accepted for compliance and submission.
Which methods do you use for air microbiology?
Settle-plate (passive) and active air sampling for bacterial and fungal counts, plus compressed-air microbiology for product-contact air.
Where is air monitoring needed?
Food production halls, pharmaceutical and cleanroom areas, hospitals and any controlled environment where airborne bioburden must be limited and validated.
Can you support cleanroom validation?
Yes. Airborne bacterial and fungal counts are interpreted against the cleanliness expectation for the classified area to support validation and routine monitoring.
What samples do you accept for Air – Mould & Bacteria?
We routinely handle Cleanrooms, production halls, hospitals, compressed air. Share your exact sample type and target standard and our technical team will confirm the required quantity, method and turnaround.
What parameters are included in Air – Mould & Bacteria?
The Air – Mould & Bacteria panel covers 3 accredited parameters such as Yeast and Moulds/Total Fungal count, Total Plate Count/Total Bacterial Count and Legionella. The full searchable list is on this page — tell us your target and we'll map the right sub-panel for your sample.
