Water Quality Testing

Drinking, packaged, ground, surface, process and waste water tested against IS 10500, IS 14543, IS 13428 and CPCB discharge norms.

Overview

Water Testing at CVR Labs

CVR Labs is NABL-accredited and BIS- and CPCB-recognised for water testing. We run the complete physico-chemical, heavy-metal, organic and microbiological panels defined by the applicable Indian Standard, comparing every result against acceptable and permissible limits.

Using GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, HPLC, AAS, GC, IC and UV-Vis alongside classical wet-chemistry and membrane-filtration microbiology, our analysts deliver reports that support drinking-water safety verification, BIS certification, factory licensing and pollution-control-board consent compliance. Sampling support and guidance are available on request.

Why It Matters

Why this testing matters

Public Health

Unsafe water transmits chemical and microbial disease. IS 10500 and IS 14543 define the limits that protect water consumers.

Statutory Compliance

CPCB / TNPCB consent conditions, BIS certification and factory licensing all require periodic accredited water analysis.

Process Protection

Scaling, corrosion and fouling from out-of-spec process and boiler water cause costly downtime and equipment failure.

Discharge Compliance

Effluent must meet CPCB/TNPCB discharge standards before release. Accredited BOD/COD data is mandatory for environmental clearance.

Regulatory Context

Where these results are used

IS 10500:2012

The Indian Standard for drinking water defines acceptable and permissible limits for physical, chemical and microbiological parameters.

BIS Schemes — IS 14543 / IS 13428

Packaged drinking water and natural mineral water require BIS certification supported by accredited testing.

Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act

Effluent discharge must meet CPCB / TNPCB standards as a condition of consent to operate.

Environment (Protection) Act, 1986

Provides the framework for discharge norms and environmental water quality enforcement.

Factory & Building Compliance

Factory licensing, hospitals and commercial buildings require periodic potable and process water testing.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which standard do you test drinking water against?
Drinking water is tested against IS 10500:2012; packaged drinking water against IS 14543; natural mineral water against IS 13428. Effluent is assessed against CPCB / TNPCB discharge norms.
Is the report valid for BIS and pollution-board submission?
Yes. CVR Labs is NABL-accredited and recognised under the BIS Lab Recognition Scheme 2020 and by CPCB, so reports are accepted for certification and consent compliance.
How should I collect and send a water sample?
Use clean, sealed containers — typically 2 L for chemical analysis and a separate sterile bottle for microbiology. Keep samples cool and deliver within 24 hours.
Do you cover microbiology as well as chemistry?
Yes. We provide the complete panel — physico-chemical, heavy metals, organics and microbiological indicators — from a single submission.
Can you test ETP / STP effluent?
Yes. We measure BOD, COD, TSS, oil & grease, nutrients and metals against the applicable CPCB / TNPCB discharge standards.
What is the turnaround for water testing?
Most chemical panels are reported in 3–5 working days and microbiology in around 3 days. Heavy metals and organics may take slightly longer.
Do you perform on-site sampling?
Yes, sampling support is available for many water types; we also guide your team on representative sampling and preservation.
Can you test borewell water for a new connection?
Yes. A ground-water chemical, heavy-metal and microbiological survey establishes suitability for drinking, domestic or process use.
