VOC Monitoring

Speciated volatile organic compound and compressed-gas analysis by GC-MS.

Environmental Monitoring

About VOC Monitoring

Volatile organic compounds drive both health risk and fugitive product loss, and they require speciated analysis — knowing total VOC is rarely enough when a specific compound carries the limit. CVR Labs identifies and quantifies individual VOCs by GC-MS, covering BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes), chlorinated solvents and the wider volatile suite in workplace air, fence-line monitoring, process vents and compressed gases.

Sampling uses sorbent tubes, canisters or impingers matched to the compound and setting, with thermal desorption or solvent extraction at the laboratory. Whether the driver is occupational exposure to benzene, a fence-line complaint or LDAR support, results are reported compound-by-compound against the applicable limit.

What we analyse under VOC Monitoring

The parameter groups below are drawn from this service's own accredited scope; the full searchable list follows.

Speciation is essential

Benzene carries a far stricter limit than other aromatics; only compound-by-compound GC-MS quantification tells you which VOC is the problem.

VOCs are health and loss

Volatiles are both an exposure hazard and lost product/feedstock; monitoring serves safety and process economics together.

Sampling must fit the compound

Sorbent tubes, canisters and impingers each suit different VOCs and settings — correct media selection makes the result valid.

Where more than one standard applies, the appropriate method is selected for each sample and regulatory requirement. Individual VOCs are speciated and quantified by GC-MS/MS under validated in-house CVR SOPs, with benzene also covered by IS 5182 (Part 11); samples are collected on sorbent tubes, canisters or impingers and thermally desorbed or extracted at the laboratory — all within the accredited scope.

FAQ

VOC Monitoring — frequently asked questions

Is VOC Monitoring NABL-accredited at CVR Labs?
Yes. VOC Monitoring is performed under CVR Labs' NABL ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation (Cert. NABLT0626TN18226) at our Chennai laboratory, with traceable, audit-ready reports accepted for compliance and submission.
Do you speciate individual VOCs?
Yes. We identify and quantify individual compounds by GC-MS — BTEX, chlorinated solvents and the wider volatile suite — rather than reporting only a total VOC figure.
Where can VOC monitoring be applied?
Workplace air for exposure assessment, fence-line and process-vent monitoring, indoor air investigations and compressed-gas analysis.
How are VOC samples collected?
Using sorbent tubes, Summa-type canisters or impingers selected to suit the target compound and setting, with thermal desorption or extraction at the lab.
What samples do you accept for VOC Monitoring?
We routinely handle Workplace air, fence-line, process vents, compressed gases. Share your exact sample type and target standard and our technical team will confirm the required quantity, method and turnaround.
What parameters are included in VOC Monitoring?
The VOC Monitoring panel covers 58 accredited parameters such as 1,1,1,2-Tetrachloroethane, 1,1,1-Trichloroethane, 1,1,2,2-Tetrachloroethane, 1,1,2-Trichloroethane and 1,1-Dichloroethane. The full searchable list is on this page — tell us your target and we'll map the right sub-panel for your sample.
