About Mycotoxins Testing

Mycotoxins are toxic fungal metabolites that form in the field and multiply in warm, humid storage, and they are among the most strictly regulated food contaminants worldwide. CVR Labs quantifies aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, G2 and M1 in dairy), ochratoxin A, patulin, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and fumonisins by LC-MS/MS and HPLC across cereals, nuts, spices, dried fruit, milk, feed and juices.

Immunoaffinity clean-up and isotope-based confirmation give the sensitivity needed to certify a lot below FSSAI and importing-country limits — limits that for aflatoxin in nuts and spices are among the lowest of any contaminant. Each report ties the toxin and matrix to the applicable maximum, supporting both domestic surveillance and export certification.

What we analyse under Mycotoxins Testing

The parameter groups below are drawn from this service's own accredited scope; the full searchable list follows.

Aflatoxin limits are the strictest

Aflatoxin B1 in nuts, spices and cereals is regulated at single-digit µg/kg; LC-MS/MS confirmation is essential to certify a lot for sale or export.

Different commodities, different toxins

Patulin in apple juice, DON and zearalenone in cereals, ochratoxin A in coffee and spices — each commodity needs the right toxin panel.

Storage drives toxin build-up

Mycotoxins increase with poor drying and storage; testing at intake and dispatch catches build-up before it breaches the limit.

Aflatoxins and ochratoxin A are determined by HPLC with immunoaffinity clean-up; deoxynivalenol and patulin by LC-MS/MS, under validated in-house CVR SOPs within the accredited scope. The appropriate method is selected for each sample and regulatory requirement.

FAQ

Mycotoxins Testing — frequently asked questions

Is Mycotoxins Testing NABL-accredited at CVR Labs?
Yes. Mycotoxins Testing is performed under CVR Labs' NABL ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation (Cert. NABLT0626TN18226) at our Chennai laboratory, with traceable, audit-ready reports accepted for compliance and submission.
Which mycotoxins do you test for?
Aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, G2 and M1 in milk), ochratoxin A, patulin, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone and fumonisins, by LC-MS/MS and HPLC with immunoaffinity clean-up.
What sensitivity do you achieve for aflatoxin?
Our LC-MS/MS methods reach the low µg/kg range required to certify nuts, spices and cereals below FSSAI and EU aflatoxin limits.
Which foods most need mycotoxin testing?
Nuts and dried fruit (aflatoxin), spices (aflatoxin, ochratoxin A), cereals (DON, zearalenone), apple products (patulin) and milk (aflatoxin M1).
What samples do you accept for Mycotoxins Testing?
We routinely handle Cereals, nuts, spices, dried fruit, milk, animal feed, juices. Share your exact sample type and target standard and our technical team will confirm the required quantity, method and turnaround.
What parameters are included in Mycotoxins Testing?
The Mycotoxins Testing panel covers 8 accredited parameters such as Ochratoxin A, Aflatoxin-B1, Aflatoxin-B2, Aflatoxin-G1 and Aflatoxin-G2. The full searchable list is on this page — tell us your target and we'll map the right sub-panel for your sample.
