Swimming Pool Water Testing

Residual chlorine, pH, turbidity, cyanuric acid and microbiological safety for recreational water.

Water Testing

About Swimming Pool Water Testing

Swimming pool and spa water is a shared bathing environment, and without proper disinfection it transmits eye, skin and gastrointestinal infection between users. CVR Labs tests pool and spa water for the parameters that govern bather safety and comfort — residual chlorine (free and combined), pH, turbidity, cyanuric acid and total dissolved solids — alongside the microbiological indicators that confirm disinfection is working.

We interpret results against recreational-water guidance so a hotel, club or apartment operator knows whether chlorination and filtration are adequate or drifting. Combined chlorine and pH in particular explain the irritation complaints that pools generate, turning a guess into a corrective action.

What we analyse under Swimming Pool Water Testing

The parameter groups below are drawn from this service's own accredited scope; the full searchable list follows.

Disinfection failure spreads infection

Inadequate residual chlorine lets eye, skin and gut infections pass between bathers — microbiology confirms the disinfection actually works.

pH controls everything

Out-of-range pH cripples chlorine efficacy and causes irritation; it is the master parameter of pool-water quality.

Combined chlorine explains complaints

Chloramines (combined chlorine), not free chlorine, cause the stinging eyes and odour bathers complain about — and only testing separates the two.

Where more than one standard applies, the appropriate method is selected for each sample and regulatory requirement. Physico-chemical parameters follow the IS 3025 series and APHA Standard Methods; microbiology runs to IS 5887 / IS 1622 / IS 15185 and ISO 11731 for Legionella, and trace metals are determined by ICP-MS under validated in-house CVR SOPs within the accredited scope.

FAQ

Swimming Pool Water Testing — frequently asked questions

Is Swimming Pool Water Testing NABL-accredited at CVR Labs?
Yes. Swimming Pool Water Testing is performed under CVR Labs' NABL ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation (Cert. NABLT0626TN18226) at our Chennai laboratory, with traceable, audit-ready reports accepted for compliance and submission.
What does swimming-pool water testing cover?
Free and combined residual chlorine, pH, turbidity, cyanuric acid and TDS, plus microbiological indicators (coliforms, E. coli) that confirm disinfection is effective.
Why do bathers complain of stinging eyes in a clear pool?
Usually combined chlorine (chloramines) and out-of-range pH, not free chlorine; testing distinguishes these so the right correction is made.
How often should pool water be tested?
Operational parameters are checked frequently on-site; periodic accredited laboratory testing verifies microbiological safety and overall water quality.
What samples do you accept for Swimming Pool Water Testing?
We routinely handle Swimming pool, spa & recreational water. Share your exact sample type and target standard and our technical team will confirm the required quantity, method and turnaround.
What parameters are included in Swimming Pool Water Testing?
The Swimming Pool Water Testing panel covers 38 accredited parameters such as E.coli, Faecal coliforms, Legionella spp, Standard Plate Count and Total Coliforms. The full searchable list is on this page — tell us your target and we'll map the right sub-panel for your sample.
